Stainless Steel Oxidation

At Classic Electropolishing our specialty is stainless steel electropolishing. We have done electropolishing for the medical, automotive, aerospace and electronics industries. Our attention to detail and our high quality products are what set us apart from the rest of metal finishers.

Stainless Steel Corrosion

We recently had a customers ask us: "is electropolishing is a good way to decrease oxidation after heat treatment of stainless steel wire?" The answer is yes. Electropolishing stainless steel is a good way to decrease corrosion and decrease stainless steel oxidation. Through surface machining, contaminates can disrupt the formation of stainless steels' corrosion resistant oxide layer and are often the origin site of corrosion. Electropolishing removes surface material and surface contaminants.

Classic Electropolishing adheres to the stainless standard ASTM B 912-02 (2008), Passivation of Stainless Steels Using Electropolishing. Electropolishing offers cost advantages of up to 50% over traditional manual metal finishing.
