Pickling (Metal)

At Classic Electropolishing we provide metal pickling services. Most often we perform metal pickling as part of the electropolishing finish process to achieve ASTM standards.

Pickling is a metal surface treatment used to remove impurities, such as stains, inorganic contaminants, rust or scale from ferrous metals, copper, and aluminum alloys. A solution called pickle liquor, which contains strong acids, is used to remove the surface impurities. It is commonly used to descale or clean steel in various steel making processes. - wikipedia

Pickling can be part of the electropolishing process or can be an independent step depending on your needs. Typically metal pickling is performed prior to electropolishing to prepare the surface of the product. Once pickled the electropolishing finish is more refined.

We have multiple large tanks ready for pickling your next project. We can accommodate small lots or large lots alike. Pickling is a "barrel" style process as apposed to a rack process which makes it affordable.
